She recently retired as Director of the Fairfax County Virginia's Office for Women, where she received national recognition for her progressive policy reform for women. While in the DC area she also served as chair of Capitol Financial Partner's Women's Advisory Board, and she led a dedicated group of prominent volunteers in giving birth to Fairfax County's Financial Education Center for Women Entrepreneurs and the nonprofit, Women's Association for Financial Education. Leia is also the coach to managers and directors in business and government, ranging from the National Archives and the Goddard Space Flight Center to the Marriott Corporation.
In her coaching practice, Leia specializes in the career management, leadership development and financial empowerment of women. Her passion is to help her clients understand clearly what changes they want and how to make those changes happen. One of her primary tools for navigating change is the personal process journal. Leia has earned certified facilitator status in both journal and poetry therapy, and she is herself a lifelong journal writer.
