Anne Fontaine was raised on a farm in Iowa with lots of animals. She launched The Annie Series in 2007 with Ocho Loved Flowers, the heartwarming story of a little girl who learns about love, responsibility, and loss when her cat, Ocho, becomes sick and isn’t going to get well. Read more.
Anne received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Tulane University and has worked in healthcare marketing, consulting, coaching, and leadership development, as well as with children in social service organizations. She believes strongly that healthy modeling and a few helpful pointers easily awaken a child’s natural capacity to meet life challenges with creativity and strength. Anne created The Annie Series and Stoneleigh Press to make available books that offered just such hope and guidance, especially to young girls.
A former board member of The Humane Society and an active animal welfare volunteer, Anne Fontaine believes in adopting animals and living in harmony with them. She has been a cat owner for 25 years.
Anne believes that life happens in networks and in making connections with people. She loves spending time with her “girls” Ali and Nicole. She sings in a gospel choir, enjoys sports (football, baseball and basketball), going to the theater, sharing with her friends in Wisdom Circle and Juicy Group, and chatting with her houseplants.
Anne lives and works in Seattle with her husband, with whom she co-owns The Fontaine Group, a leadership consulting firm. They have two cats, Splotch and Mija. If you visit the Seattle Art Museum Olympic Sculpture Park, you may meet Anne, who volunteers there.
