About the Show

For many women, midlife is a time where one begins to finally slow down long enough to question life’s purpose. For others, midlife brings profound physical and emotional changes that can be unsettling, leaving one feeling stuck and confused.  Our host Kat Tansey believes midlife is a magical time, a time to use one’s accumulated wisdom to achieve new levels of inner peace and happiness.

Every week, listen to Kat’s insightful interviews with accomplished and talented women from many walks of life.  Most of them are authors, but this description falls far short of conveying the broad scope of the expertise of the women on Finding Magic in Midlife.

Guests have included artists, professors, radio and film producers, scientists, organization consultants, psychologists and psychiatrists, medical doctors, documentary film writers, animal activists, personal coaches, social activists, educators, speakers, psychic healers, medical intuitives, and entrepreneurs.

Some of Kat’s guests are well known, like Byron Katie, Kathlyn Hendricks, Dr. Judith Orloff, Joan Anderson, Dr. Angeles Arrien, Caroline Sutherland, Dr. Candace Pert, and Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor.  Others are known in smaller circles, but all Kat’s guests have one thing in common — they demonstrate the magic, the wisdom, the energy, and the incredible diversity of women in midlife.

The Finding Magic in Midlife Show airs every Thursday at 6PM EST. All shows are recorded and are available in the archived shows for listening at your convenience.

About Kat Tansey

Kat Tansey

Magic in Midlife host Kat Tansey is an award-winning author, innovative educator, and life change artist who believes in the power of a well-told tale to teach while it entertains. She is passionate about promoting what she likes to call the “Empowering Arts” of Meditation, Sleep, Fitness, and Embracing Change.

An inspirational teacher, Kat spent her early career training thousands of people and consulting with over fifty corporations to help them meet the challenges of change. Her first book, Winning the Change Game, reflected the lessons she learned from twenty years in the corporate world as a training and change management consultant.

Her second book, Choosing to Be: Lessons in Living from a Feline Zen Master, is the story of how Kat overcame depression after she had to close her successful consulting practice when she was struck down by Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Choosing to Be is a deceptively simple story that delivers a powerful message for all who are better at “doing” than “being.” The value of meditation is clearly demonstrated by Kat and her feline Zen master in this entertaining read, written with love and a nice dose of humor along the way.

In order to learn how to resolve her own sleep issues, Kat spent most of 2009 researching insomnia, ultimately creating Insomnia Relief Recipes, her e-book that educates people about sleep, and teaches them how to become confident sleepers without using drugs.

In early 2010, Kat collaborated with her good friend Dave Carpenter to produce the highly praised e-book, Prospering in 2010.  In addition, Kat and Dave developed a subscription series of webinars called Prospering in 2010: Embracing Change to Accelerate Success, and they teach one session live each month on the internet.

Note: From the first broadcast of Finding Magic in Midlife in October 2008 through February 2010, Nancy Marriott co-hosted the show with Kat. Many of the shows in the FMIM Archive were recorded with both Kat and Nancy interviewing their guests.
