Robb Jackson

Robb Jackson

Dr. Robert Jackson’s day job is teaching writing at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, where he landed 20 years ago from his homeland in Ohio.  He is a fully tenured English professor of English . Robb is one of the pioneers of TAMUCC’s award-winning first-year writing program, and he is now working on developing a creative writing program that will integrate personal writing and creative writing in community service, into a traditional creative writing curriculum.  He is the author of a collection of poems, Living on the Hurricane Coast and is working on a next collection.

Robb’s passion is taking writing out of the university and into the hospitals, shelters and streets of a community.  He has been volunteering for more than 20 years.  Robb has just completed a 2.5-year intensive training as a Certified Applied Poetry Facilitator through the National Federation of Biblio/Poetry Therapy and will be awarded his credential in April 2008.  As part of his training, he has facilitated four writing groups a week at a county drug and alcohol rehab program for non-violent felons, where he has been instrumental in the healing and recovery of hundreds of men and women.
