Ray McGinnis is author of Writing the Sacred: A Psalm-inspired Path to Appreciating and Writing Sacred Poetry. He teaches writing workshops that range from journal writing, poetry, poetry and nature walking; and writing from our sacred centers. Since 1999 he has taught more than 7000 participants in over 500 writing workshops across fourteen states and nine Canadian provinces.

Ray is also a published poet – his work has been published in Quills Canadian Poetry Magazine, Montreal Serai and four chapbooks published by Leaf Press. He received his B.A. from the University of Toronto, and in 1999 he completed instructor certification training at the Center for Journal Therapy in Denver. He also has been a student at the Banff Center for Fine Arts Writing program.

Ray is a member of the Advisory Board of the Institute for Poetic Medicine in Mountain View, California;, and he serves as a volunteer in charge of the Spiritual Pathways program at the Canadian Memorial United Church and Center for Peace. In his free time Ray can be found hiking, camping, whitewater rafting, ziplining, horseback riding, practicing the Brazilian martial art & dance form called Capoeira, playing guitar, or attending a live music concert.
